After six glorious years at the Montessori School of Cambridge, it was time for my daughter, Emma, to transition to a new school for 4th grade. It didn't take long for her teachers to recognize how solid her academics were, French in particular. By November she was asked to join a French-speaking club composed of mainly children in grades 6-8. In January she was invited to compete in a regional French-speaking contest, "Concours Oratoire". This contest is open to all Ontario students in grades 4 - 12 studying French whether in core French, extended, intensive or French as-a-second-language formats. Emma competed or should I say, "performed" with confidence just as she had many times in her Montessori years. Emma was awarded an impressive first place in her division. Upon returning to her school she was welcomed by cheers of excitement. This experience shows one of the many ways your child will continue to reap the benefits of our school's amazing Montessori elementary, casa and toddler programs long after she or he leaves the school. A special merci to Mme Christine Filipowicz and Mme Laurent and thank-you to everyone who played a role in Emma's beautiful Montessori learning journey. - Cheryl Faria
